The phone rang.

"Hello?"

"Dr. Manera?"

"Yes?"

"This is Dr. Morris, director of the Smithsonian Labs. It seems we need your "expertise" again doctor. I would like to know if you will be busy this afternoon. There is something I’d like you to see."

"Where is it now."

"Langley lab, Monterey complex."

"See you at, say, two-ish"

"Two o’clock...sharp will be fine with us."

"Look you BASTARD I’m not one of you’re-"

CLICK

"Hello? Hello!?!? Son of a BITCH!

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Monterey complex hadn’t changed since the last time he was here. Even the gate guard looked the same (probably cloning the asshole).

"I.D. please."

"Here you go bud."

"Name, sir."

"It’s on the card."

"Your name, sir."

"Dr. Manera, Richard L."

"Thank you. Dr. Morris is expecting you."

The building, elevator and section guard were just as thorough as the gate guard. Must be related!

"Dr. Manera! How good of you to join us! Coffee?"

"No thanks."

"You’ll be pleased to know, we didn’t sedate the specimen like the last time. After the last time, we developed better restraining procedures. It’s in room D14. Shall we?

"Sure"

"So how’s business?"

"Dr. Morris let’s get one thing straight. I don’t like you."

"I see."

"Besides, your people probably know EXACTLY how I’m doing."

The two men moved through the corridors without speaking.

"Here we are. As you can see the manacles are made of a tungsten/titanium alloy. The walls have a reinforced steel and concrete layer that can be electrified if necessary."

"So now we wait till evening."

"No need. Place the control sample in with the test."

It was over in less than a minute.  The creature captured it's prey with speed and precision.

"Hey! He’s-What the HELL IS THIS! I thought you had another werewolf for me to examine! What’s going on?"

"Sorry doctor. We assumed that your "science" would also have an understanding of Vampires as well..."
